I learned that from students who worked harder than anyone and still fell short. I assumed a learning gap. It wasn't. It was self-esteem, frustration tolerance, a sense of belonging — everything school measures least and depends on most.

So I went to my principal and pushed for social-emotional learning in everyday classroom practice. The school said yes, and added a standalone SEL class. Well-intentioned, and the wrong shape. You can't teach emotional regulation the way you teach math. These skills aren't explained into existence — they're built through lived experience.

That question became Insight — the solution for schools that want SEL to happen in real classrooms, not in a separate period once a week. It embeds social-emotional learning into the daily fabric of teaching, across every subject, and measures what happens.

The field is still early, but we're not guessing. We've run 50 million assessments, and the patterns are legible in ways one teacher's intuition can't be.
